Why We should Love Real Estate in 2022

Each of us is presented with a variety of possibilities at various phases in our lives.

These chances (which are often disguised as work!) are not always as obvious!

I’m glad to say that I accepted the most of them: some were disappointing, but none were as interesting as my decision to become a real estate agent.

Dare I say it out loud: I love real estate!

Contrary to common assumption, being a real estate agent is more than simply a work shift or a last resort; it is a total lifestyle transition. There is no other job that even comes close.

And why is that? That’s the simple part.

To give you an idea, I have quickly lined up 13 reasons: 

Reason #1

Have you ever considered what it might be like to wake up every day without a job? That’s what it’s like to be a self-employed real estate agent!

Do you like to sleep in and get started later in the day? Not to worry! What about taking those extended vacations? That is not an issue at all! Just don’t be shocked if your (commission) income is also low that month! The benefit of having this time flexibility is that you may spend it whenever you want with your family, friends, and loved ones! 

Reason #2

I am extremely pleased of the job that I do, whether it’s aiding buyers in discovering their most important asset, or assisting home sellers with the marketing and subsequent sale of their house as they prepare for the next chapter in their lives! What a thrilling prospect!

As a real estate agent, you have a greater influence on people’s lives than you may realize! It’s not the simplest job, but it’s also one of the most rewarding!

Reason #3

Well, I never thought I would say this, but I love real estate agents!

Please don’t take me wrong here: there are many real estate agents out there whose business cards aren’t worth the paper it is written on (but that’s a discussion for another time)!

However, in the end, their (in)actions make me look great!

Reason #4

Real estate agents, in some ways, are similar to police officers!

How many times have you driven past a certain property around the corner from your house and imagined what it must be like on the inside?

As a real estate agent, you’ve most certainly seen the insides of all the local residences, especially if you’ve been in the neighborhood for a while!

You get to learn more about the individuals behind those sometimes strange-looking street solicitations, and let me tell you: there are a lot of things you see and hear that you wish you could un-see and un-hear! For example, having a beautiful streetside pavement but being absolutely taken aback by the internal decorations, or vice-verse.

Reason #5

Being directly involved in the marketing and sale of one’s own property exposes a real estate agent to (not-to-be-underestimated) levels of emotional stress, whether induced by the home seller, an interested buyer, or the agent himself.

Intense discussions that last days or weeks, making or submitting purchase bids at the most inconvenient times or locations, or showing potential purchasers properties in the most challenging of conditions all lead to stressful scenarios!

Reason #6

Friends will occasionally tell me how concerned they are about the newest economic conditions and projections, and how they fear they will be downsized, outsourced, or lose their jobs entirely.

It has been a huge weight off my shoulders as a real estate agent to know that I will never have to worry about it again!

Reason #7

Marketing a house entails a plethora of various factors, and it can be rather fun at times!

Things may get a little more serious if it weren’t for all of the hilarious real estate marketing gaffes that one witnesses as a real estate salesperson!

Reason #8

The variation and frequency of commission revenue was definitely something one had to get used to at first!

There’s no mistake about it: the number of (s)low commission revenue months is more than compensated for by a few weeks’ worth of commission money in the neighborhood of an ordinary person’s yearly wage!

Budgeting is essential for properly adjusting one’s monthly budget throughout the year.

Reason #9

What’s the state of the economy? Is the economy in excellent shape? Is the economy bad?

As a real estate agent, I prefer to think of myself as being in charge of my own economy!

I feel that if my business is successful or unsuccessful, it is entirely the result of my own efforts (mainly directly between my ears!). Some of my greatest months were during economic downturns!

Reason #10

What about the absence of discrimination!?

In other words, it’s a fair playing field where anybody interested in becoming a real estate agent can choose to do so regardless of their educational background or past professional experience!

However, whether you will survive your first six months as a real estate agent is an entirely different story (and a topic for another day)!

Reason #11

Have you ever felt bored at work?

That is not something I can say because every day is different because of the employment variety that this real estate industry provides!

Have you ever stopped to consider the last time you dealt with a real estate agent regarding the purchase or sale of a property and realized that your agent was a combination of a photographer, journalist, psychologist, attorney, housekeeper, interior designer, babysitter, personal secretary, security guard, and roof repairman, etc.? To mention a few of the tasks a real estate agent will conduct while marketing your house!

Talk about being a “Jack of All Trades” but NOT!

Evolving as a real estate agent at a time when social media is so important, I consider myself extremely fortunate to have met so many new real estate colleagues, many of whom have turned into friends with whom I communicate on a daily basis and have learned so much from through online Real Estate Communities.

Wasn’t it Zig Ziglar who said, “You can have whatever you want in life if you assist enough other people have what they want?”

As a result, the sooner you grasp this basic principle, the more successful your career as a real estate agent will be. I absolutely love real estate because there is no limit to how much money you can earn in this industry if you put your mind to it!
